Song Manager Title

Presenter

Presenter is both a module of the Song Manager suite that combines the functionality of a follower in a presentation system. It has been designed primarily with places of worship in mind and is intented to be used to project song lyricss and other media onto projectors and screens for a congregation. It will work standalone but it will link with the SongLeader module as a follower so that the Presenter can keep in step with the leader.

The presenter module will work with multiple projectors/displays which can be either locally attached or running on a remote PC. There is no internal limit to the number of displays that can be attached, but it will be limited by the power of the computer and the speed of the network (when using remote displays).

Screen Layout

The presenter screen is arranged in 4 columns and designed so that the natural flow of information is left to right.

The first column is for item selection. Items can be songs, images, bibles and other media. The second column contains the playlist and the selected item preview. The third column is for the current live item and allows selection of verses from songs, etc. The final column is a display preview and shows the state of all the connected displays.

Presenter - Item Selection

The first column in the Presenter module is all about selecting items for display. The types of items that can be selected will be listed in the control section at the top of the column. In this example we can see that we can select from Songs, Images and Bibles. Clicking on any of these buttons will display a list of available items of the selected type.

Song Selection

The song selection consists of two parts: the song list and the list filter. A single song can have three different types of entry in the list.

  • Song Title - these are written in bold black text
  • First Line - these are written in normal blue text
  • Other Index Entries - these are written in italic green text

Why do we do this? Songs are often known by different people in different ways, for example some might remember the song title, some the first line of the song, some the first line of the chorus, all of which could be different. Using this scheme you have the best chance of finding a song quickly and easily whilst avoiding unnecessary song duplication.

A song can be selected by either using the keyboard or the mouse.

Image Selection

The image selection consists of a list of thumbnails and folder icons.

Bible Selection

The bible selection consists of a list of bibles, each of which can be expanded by book, chapter down to individual verses.

The bible selection is handled differently to the other sections in that selected verses are automatically made live and cannot be added to the playlist. The selection can be operated by both keyboard and mouse.

Playlist

The second column in the Presenter module contains 2 sections. The upper section is the playlist which contains the list of songs that are scheduled to be used. The information is displayed in various formats depending on it's status. There is one line for each item in the playlist. Each line contains the item title (song title, image name, etc) on the left hand side and an icon on the right hand side showing a small visual style guide.

  • User-selected items have a light blue background
  • Auto-loaded SongLeader items have a bold blue font
  • SongLeader selected items have a tan background

There are a number of action buttons which are shown above the playlist

  • New - clears the play list
  • Open - loads the play list from a previously saved file
  • Save - saves the current playlist back to the currently loaded file
  • Save As - saves the current playlist in a new file.
  • Remove - removes the currently selected item from the playlist
  • Up - move the currently selected item up one place
  • Down - move the currently selected item down one place
  • Go Live - Make the currently selected item live

Each time an item is selected it will be displayed in the Selected Item preview window which is located below the Playlist Window

Live Item

The live item is shown in the third column of the Presenter module under the Defaults section. When an item is made live from either the playlist or item selection it is displayed here. Each section that can be seperately displayed is shown in it's own section. In the example above the song has 2 displayable sections.

When the live selection is changed it is immediately sent to all the active displays. The selection can be changed by keyboard or mouse

this can allow displays to be configured for different purposes, for example you might have a main projection screen showing everything plus an overlay for video recording showing only text on a black screen.
